Arab India Spices – Expansion in the UAE
Arab India Spices (AIS) is an Indian-owned food importing and processing company with a long-standing presence in the UAE. The company has expanded its production operations in Ajman through a Dh350 million investment, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and supporting its growth across the UAE and wider Gulf region.
The new facility represents an investment of approximately $95.2 million and was developed to increase the processing of pulses, spices, lentils, rice, and other essential food products. The UAE’s strategic location, infrastructure, and access to GCC markets make it an important base for the company’s manufacturing and distribution activities.
According to Managing Director Harish Tahiliani, AIS began its UAE operations with a facility of only 400 square feet. Over the years, the company expanded its operations to approximately 400,000 square feet, reflecting its continued investment in manufacturing and processing infrastructure.
The company has also diversified beyond traditional milling and grinding into whole-spice processing and consumer packing, allowing it to serve a broader range of retail and food-service customers.
The expanded Ajman facility provides additional capacity to support the company’s international sourcing network and regional distribution. AIS has also set an ambitious target of achieving Dh1 billion in annual turnover.
Overall, the Ajman expansion represents a major stage in Arab India Spices’ development, supporting its focus on innovation, diversification, production efficiency, and regional growth.
